LIFE HISTORY

HOST PLANT -  Dregea volubilis (L.f.) Benth. ex Hook. f. (family Asclepiadaceae)

EGG - It is creamy white in colour and  cylindrical  in shape tapered at top; rounded ridges on the sides, laid singly on the underside of its host plant. It measures about 0.8 mm in diameter and 1.4 mm height.

CATERPILLAR/LARVA  - The egg will hatch in about 4 days; whitish in colour on hatching and turn to strips of black and white; grow from 2 mm to 3.8 cm in length. The larval stage lasts about 14 days.

CHRYSALIS /PUPA - The larva will pupate around its host plant and attach itself to leaf or stalk before pupation. The pupa measures about 1.6 cm. The adult butterfly will emerge in about 7 days during the summer months under indoor controlled environment.
